We weren't sure if we were going to make it to the beach this year but the last minute, plans changed and we were headed for beach bliss. We stayed again at the Huntington by the Sea, and enjoyed lazy days at the beach, morning/afternoon/evening bike rides with Carson in tow, nights sitting in the jacuzzi, and ventures to Disneyland.
Within the first hour we were there, Carson took a tumble down the metal stairs of the trailer. The door was open with the screen door closed. Carson was pounding on the door wanting to go outside, when the screen popped open and he went head first out the door. I screamed bloody murder and watched in slow motion as his feet flipped over his body and heared the thumping sounds of the stairs. It was heartwrenching. I know it could have been must worse but he just ended up with a nice shiner underneath his right eye. I should have taken a picture but I didn't have my camera near when the thought crossed my mind.
I am just beginning to realize that taking (a) kid in my case, on vacation is a lot of work. Thank goodness the adult to kid ratio was 7:1 and Carson couldn't be more loved by all. I really took advantage. He was so good all week. I can't believe for the most part how even-keeled and easy-going he is.
Carson loved playing in the sand. He would dig, fill up his bucket, dump out his bucket over and over ALL day long with Grandpa. He was not interested in the water one bit, wouldn't even go close - which made watching him pretty easy.
Jordan could play catch and throw a football with Sam for hours.
Carson was absolutely in love with the bubble gun Aunt Trishy bought him. He laughed and laughed and cried when the bubbles were gone.
Jordan can tan really easy, and hardly gets burned. We all know how ghost white I can be. I was hoping Carson would get Jordan's great skin, but no such luck. He's cursed with my whiteness. I trained him for weeks before going to the beach with his hat. I would put it on him everyday and make him wear it. It took persistance, but it finally paid off because by the time we went to the beach he'd actually wear it for long periods of time without immediately pulling it off. It ended up being a lifesaver to Carson's cute cheeks :)
We had intense paddle ball tournaments. We would play singles and doubles. I'm sure Terri was probably the ultimate champion for the week. She can be pretty competative.
I don't know how many times I can say I just love peeps magazine.
Slowly, Aunt Trishy introduced Carson to the water and for a little while I think he loved it! It was cold! Too cold for me, but Carson didn't seem to mind one bit.
I LOVE Carson's cheesy smile when he gets excited. He starts doing this happy dance that is the cutest thing to watch. One day I'm going to be quick enough to capture it on video.
We hadn't even gotten to Disneyland on the last day and he was already exhausted. But I couldn't resist the sweetness of this picture - he's cuddling with his mickey!
I thought for sure Carson would crash on the way home... not so much.
We enjoyed our vacation to the beach. It's a tradition Jordan looks forward to every year.
