Visiting Happy Valley

The kids and I traveled to Utah with my parents for my sister-in-law's graduation from BYU. I'm super proud of her for sticking with it. It wasn't easy marrying into a predominantly loyal UNLV family, or convincing my brother to move to Utah snow just so she could fulfill a childhood dream. But she did it!! And we couldn't be more proud of her! Congrats, Ashley Noel.

We went up Wednesday afternoon and got settled for the weekend festivities. Thursday we walked around BYU, and attended the commencement exercises. President Uchtdorf was a special unannounced speaker in attendance to see his grandson graduate. The other speakers, including the key note from the First Quorum of the Seventy, were nice in their own right but obviously not as great as listening to an apostle. I was nervous to have to wrangle kids but it couldn't have worked out more perfect! Both Carson and Brynlee fell asleep at the beginning and slept through nearly the entire thing! Afterward we went to a little celebratory dinner at CPK with the Barnes'. Friday morning was early, we went to the graduation of the students from College of Education. The kids did really well being entertained with the iPad and quiet books. Ashley walked across the stage beaming with joy.

After kid naps, we went to City Creek to have lunch with Scotty and Ashley and see their new apartment 1/2 mile from temple square. They are officially a house divided with Scotty finishing up at the UofU. Friday night, Ashley's family hosted a fun graduation party for her and it was nice to visit with her extended family. I'm glad we got to spend time supporting (and celebrating) with Scotty & Ashley, thanks to my parents for inviting and letting us tag along. My kids we awesome little travelers and gives me a little more hope with miss Bryn since our car ride last week for Easter was less than ideal.
